Costruzioni Srl developed a nearly 1 MW photovoltaic power plant designed to generate clean electricity and to create a stable, predictable source of income for years to come.

Powered by nine Solis 100K-5G-PRO string inverters, the installation combines high-performance technology with reliable monitoring, providing the project owners with confidence in both energy production and long-term operational performance.

Creating Long-Term Value Beyond Traditional Business

The project was driven by a clear objective: diversify the company's investment portfolio.

Alongside its core residential property development business – typically characterised by one-time property sales – the company sought a recurring revenue stream through renewable energy generation. Drawing on previous experience within the photovoltaic sector and a strong commitment to clean energy, the investment offered an opportunity to build a more resilient business model while supporting Italy's energy transition.

Designed as a full-feed-in installation, the project also lays the groundwork for future participation in Italy's Renewable Energy Communities (CER), allowing the owner to benefit from evolving energy market opportunities and future incentive schemes.

Why Solis?

Having successfully deployed Solis inverters across numerous residential installations, the project team already had first-hand experience with the brand's reliability, performance and technical support.

When designing a utility-scale system approaching 1 MW, the installer chose to continue with Solis string inverter technology. Working closely with Solis' technical specialists, the optimal inverter configuration was selected to match the characteristics of high-efficiency PV modules while ensuring maximum system performance.

The Solution

The installation delivers a total installed capacity of 999.57 kWp, using 1,398 715 W photovoltaic modules paired with nine Solis-100K-5G-PRO string inverters.

The system also includes:

• RS485 communication network linking all inverters 

• Solis datalogger for centralised communication 

• Continuous remote monitoring via SolisCloud 

• Utility-approved remote disconnection system 

• 1,250 kVA transformer at the customer substation 

By adopting a string inverter architecture, the system benefits from high operational flexibility, simplified monitoring and efficient maintenance while maintaining excellent production performance across the entire plant.

Accurate Monitoring Builds Confidence

Reliable monitoring was a key requirement throughout the project.

All nine Solis inverters communicate via an RS485 network, with production data collected through a Solis datalogger and transmitted directly to SolisCloud.

One particularly important outcome has been the exceptional consistency between different measurement sources:

Production data recorded in SolisCloud aligns closely with measurements taken at the customer substation, as well as the official grid injection data recorded by Italy's distribution operator, E-Distribuzione.

This high level of data consistency has provided valuable validation of both the inverter selection and the overall PV system design, while giving the owner complete visibility of the plant's ongoing performance.

Delivering Strong Energy Performance

The plant is expected to generate more than 1.5 GWh of electricity annually, in line with PVGIS production forecasts and confirmed by the system's first months of operation.

Beyond today's performance, the project has also been designed with tomorrow in mind. The owner plans to integrate battery energy storage (BESS) in the future, further increasing system flexibility and enabling participation in emerging energy services as market conditions evolve.
