UL9540 is a safety standard for energy storage systems (ESS) and equipment that can be connected to a local utility grid or used as a standalone application. The standard also specifies system design, construction, and installation requirements for ESS, including electrical, mechanical, fluid containment, environmental performance, and system safety testing.

The SimpliPHIⓇ 6.6 batteries are also IP65 rated, allowing installation indoors or outdoors without additional cabinets. They can be ground- or wall-mounted inside a garage, shed, utility closet or basement or outside on an exterior wall.
