Discover how a 150 kW / 261 kWh energy storage system and Solis' local technical support help improve manufacturing reliability in Mexico.

How Can Energy Storage Reduce Manufacturing Downtime?

In San Agustín, Jalisco, Mexico, a metal roofing tile factory faced frequent power interruptions during the rainy season and rising electricity costs. Even brief outages could stop production lines, disrupt operations and delay customer orders.

“As soon as the power goes out, production is forced to stop, and orders can easily be lost. Market demand is already strong, and we cannot afford these interruptions,” explained Ivan Támez, Head of Smart Sun, the local project partner.

To improve power reliability, the factory upgraded its existing solar PV system with battery energy storage.

What Solis Solution Was Installed?

The factory already operated a Solis S5-GC(40-50)K-HV grid-tied inverter. The upgrade added a SolisStorage EverCore 261 kWh battery cabinet paired with a Solis S6-EH3P150K-US hybrid inverter, creating a 150 kW / 261 kWh C&I energy storage system.

The solution delivers two key benefits:

● Reliable backup power: Millisecond-level switching to battery power helps maintain critical operations during grid interruptions.

● Lower electricity costs: Charging during off-peak hours and discharging during peak-price periods helps optimise energy expenses.

Together, solar generation and battery storage provide greater energy flexibility and operational resilience.

How Does Solis Support Local Installation Partners?

As Smart Sun's first C&I energy storage commissioning project, the installation required close technical collaboration.

The Solis regional service team provided on-site support, working alongside local installers to verify electrical connections, configure system parameters, test battery performance and complete commissioning.

Solis engineers also trained the team on system monitoring, routine inspections and maintenance procedures, helping ensure smooth long-term operation.

“After commissioning and testing of the system, the truth is that we are very happy,” said Ivan Támez.

What Results Did the Factory Achieve?

Following installation, the factory reported fewer production stoppages caused by electrical faults and fewer associated cleaning interruptions.

Miguel Angel Guerra Garza, the factory manager, shared:

“From before to after — because now I have fewer work stoppages due to electrical faults, fewer cleaning stoppages caused by stoppages. For us, we have had a benefit from installing a system.”

These improvements highlight how energy storage can help manufacturers maintain production continuity and reduce disruption-related losses.
