“There is money in it, but the payment varies, so count it as a bonus, not the base,” Peter says.

Peter recommends evaluating a solar-plus-storage system over a full year.

“A solar system is a financial product. Read it the way a loan officer would,” he says.

Before investing, homeowners should ask three questions:

● What is the total annual cost?

● What are the expected annual savings and potential revenues?

● Will the investment pay for itself before the warranty expires?

Electricity savings depend on consumption, tariffs, solar generation and system configuration. A full-year calculation is more meaningful than focusing on a single month. Peter advises homeowners to ask installers for the complete financial assessment, not just the final figure.
